Congleton Partnership is involved in projects designed to improve several public areas in and around Congleton. Featured below are current projects under-way and projects in the pipeline!

Planting trees

Tree Planting Season 23/24

Trees for Congleton are planting Trees and Hedgerows in and around Congleton. View the plans for this season.

Town Centre Destination Signage

To improve visitor experience by providing information and siting of the town’s main attractions.

Hydro Scheme at Havannah Weir

CSG Project to create a community energy project based at Havannah Village Weir.

Heritage Trail

To promote Congleton’s rich heritage and encourage visitor number growth not only by local people but getting the word out nationally.

Play Areas

To help fight obesity and encourage healthier living by increasing active play through advertising our many excellent play areas using signage and leaflet.

Cycling / Walking Project.

10 point plan to improve the uptake of cycling and walking.

Cenotaph Renovation

To renovate and realign Congleton’s Cenotaph and to connect the Cenotaph and Memorial Garden with the adjoining Community Gardens.

Memorial for Margaret in Congleton Park

Margaret Williamson Memorial Fund

Local groups and organisations can apply for the 4th round of funding from the Margaret Williamson Fund.

Partnership Completed Projects

Congleton Partnership completed projects are featured below, working hard to improve our town.

Cycleway Improvement

To develop a “Traffic Free” route from the Town Centre to Congleton Railway Station and improve the Canal Towpath link from Buglawton to Biddulph Valley Way and Congleton Railway Station.

Antrobus Street Gardens

To open up the gardens from the car park, improve their appearance as a vital “green space” within the town centre.

Community Orchard (Astbury Mere)

Create a ‘Forest Garden’ effect. The signage will help explain the development and encourage community usage.

Peter Minshull is our expert on Planning and Transport. He commented on CSG’s behalf regarding sustainable issues and has become a familiar figure at local meetings and enquiries on local private planning applications in and around Congleton.

Active Travel

Active Travel was a former group of CSG. The group played an active part in encouraging cycling, and improving cycling routes, signage and maps.

Riverdane Walkway/Cycleway

To complete the River Dane walkway /cycleway from Dane Street through to Riverdane Road (Eaton Bank Industrial Estate)

Moody Street Garden

To upgrade this area to the level on the Antrobus St Gardens creating a community space.

Mountbatten Way

A project to remove the railings and create a central green boulevard on the main road that goes through Congleton.

Junk Fun at Electric Picture House

The Electric Picture House and Congleton In Bloom ran a series of free workshops for children.

Improved Route from Buglawton

Creating a more pleasant walk or cycle into town from Buglawton.

Radnor Park Signage

To improve signage in terms of businesses on the site and at the same time improve the overall appearance of the site.
