Elizabeth Wolstenholme Elmy’s statue – ‘Our Elizabeth’ – will be unveiled on 8th March 2022 in Bridge Street, Congleton.

The statue will be unveiled by The Baroness Lady Hale of Richmond and Sculptor Hazel Reeves, Elizabeth’s Group and Congleton Town Mayor Denis Murphy will be in attendance as well as lots of local schools and other groups.

There will be a parade down the main street (Lawton Street – High Street – Bridge Street) followed by readings and musical performances, until the unveiling itself at 2pm.
Programme – 8th March

11am onwards – Victorian-themed stalls and games in Bridge Street

11.30am – Elizabeth’s ‘Punch and Judy’ show

1pm – Parade along Lawton Street and Bridge Street to the statue

Led by the Beartown Stompers jazz band. On arrival, there will be additional musical performances, readings and speeches.

1.15 – Welcome by Congleton Mayor, Denis Murphy

2pm – ‘Our Elizabeth’ Unveiled by The Rt Hon the Baroness Lady Hale

Followed by

Reflections from Sculptor, Hazel Reeves

There will be opportunities for photographs and ‘selfies’ with Our Elizabeth.
